Four guiding principles, four hashtags.
At the heart of the mission statement are four guiding principles, developed after extensive analysis and surveys of the surrounding environment. Each guiding principle represents a core company value and has a hashtag that succinctly captures the underlying attitude.
These four guiding principles form the foundation for all areas of the company – from production to administration and management, right through to corporate culture.
From guiding principles to everyday practice:
A guiding principle only works when it is put into practice. Therefore, the introduction of change agents was supported and reinforced through workshops for managers and employees.

SATURN PETCARE 'S MANAGEMENT PRESENTS THE NEW GUIDING PRINCIPLE: FROM LEFT: CHRISTIAN SCHRÖDER (ON DEMSCREEN), THOMAS NEUMANN, DR. KARL SPIESS-KNAFL AND DJÖRN MEYER
“We want to bring our guiding principles into people’s hearts and minds,” says Anna Pique, Head of Corporate
Communications at Saturn Petcare , who helped shape the process. “That’s not always easy, especially when language barriers need to be overcome among employees. But it’s important to bring everyone along.”
And that's precisely what Saturn Petcare : Employees encounter the company's guiding principles everywhere in their daily work: on stairwells, lockers, the intranet, and social media. Events like the company summer party also contribute to spreading and experiencing these values. Another important element is the "Train the Trainer" program, which empowers managers to communicate these values within their departments.
We want to bring our guiding principles into people's hearts and minds.
And what's next?
The introduction of the guiding principles in 2025 has gotten off to a very good start. However, it's an ongoing process with the goal of preparing everyone for the future. Therefore, the four guiding principles are also integrated into the annual corporate objectives, reflected upon in feedback sessions, and further developed through dialogue.
What used to be painstakingly compiled in extensive tables can now be accessed on a clear dashboard. This gives managers and executives a precise overview of key performance indicators (KPIs) such as overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), production volumes, production times, downtime rates, and availability – all with a single click.
Sven Eisenhard, Head of Operational Production Controlling, played a key role in developing this new solution. He began creating a production report for production managers back in 2023. Now, two years later, the system has been significantly expanded and is available to managers in a format specifically tailored to their needs. He was supported in this endeavor by Andreas Kruschke and Matthias Steiling from the heristo company serv.it , who provided him with technical expertise and practical solutions.
“It was important to me that the data was not only accurate, but also presented in an understandable and appealing way,” explains Sven Eisenhard. “Now our managers can access up-to-date figures on their tablets at any time – whether in the office or on the go.”
